Puppy Training In Miami

Building the human-canine bond, through communication!

We believe in the human-canine bond. Viewing puppy training as a means of better the communication between you and your dog will deepen the trust between you and create a more harmonious relationship. Isn’t that why dogs have been given “Man’s Best Friend?”

For many, dog training is about wanting their dog to listen, obey, and be good, BUT have you ever thought about dog training in terms of developing excellent communication between you and your dog?

Puppy training is a two-way street. They need to understand what you want, and you need to be able to communicate what you wish to so they know.

Miami Pet Concierge offers one-on-one private lessons and board and training for you and your puppy to build YOUR human-canine bond.

What does this mean?

Whether single sessions for those new to puppy training or pups who need more time to learn, we will provide in-home private lessons for beginners or continuing education sessions in the privacy of your own home. As well as board and training for those looking for their puppy to learn in a more structured environment.

How does this work?

Like children, puppies learn at their own pace. In personalized puppy training, we cater to each dog’s individual learning style so they can develop skills, build confidence, learn to interact appropriately with other dogs in play and on the leash, and most importantly, become well rounded.

Who is this program for?

Clients who would like to start private lessons from the comfort of their own home and learn how to better communicate with and bond with their dog. Or those looking to have their pup learn in a more individualized environment directly with our trainer.

Yvonne graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Psychology. In her current role, Yvonne oversees our Puppy Training Programs, blending her knowledge of psychology and animal behavior to train puppies in essential skills. Her expertise, certified by Karen Pryor Academy and Happy With Dogs, emphasizes the importance of building a strong canine-human bond through clear communication and positive reinforcement. She focuses on training puppies aged eight weeks to six months, believing that early socialization, potty training, and well-mannered behavior set the foundation for a lifetime of happiness for both dogs and their families.

Yvonne Mejias, CPDT

Director of Human Resources & Puppy Training Programs

Yvonne was born in the Bronx and grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York. Her love of animals came from her mother and started at a young age, continuing through high school when she worked for an Old English Sheepdog breeder caring for the puppies from birth through their time in the ring at dog shows Yvonne graduated from Boston University with a biology degree and a psychology minor. She spent over eight years as the Senior Manager of Finance for the University of Miami’s Sylvester Cancer Center. Her interest in dog training was always on the back burner, and in 2012 she took the leap of faith and joined Miami Pet Concierge as a Pet Care Specialist.

Today, Yvonne is the Director of Operations & Puppy Training Programs for Miami Pet Concierge. Her passion for animals and minor in Psychology make up the perfect combination of skills and attitude needed to train puppies. Yvonne truly enjoys working with all types of dogs, teaching them new behaviors, and watching them “get” what she is trying to communicate with them. To Yvonne, all dogs, from puppies to seniors, are capable of learning.

Certified by Happy With Dogs, Yvonne learned the art of the canine-human bond and how communication is key. Happy With Dogs mission is to help pet parents enjoy life with their dogs by their side.

Although Yvonne is certified to train dogs of all ages, she focused on puppies ages eight weeks to six months because “I love giving puppies the basis to be great companions and family dogs. A well-socialized, well-mannered, potty-trained dog makes families and dogs happy and cuts down on dogs being surrendered to shelters. I think it’s super important to train your pup from a young age to be a confident, happy, and well-socialized adult dog you can take anywhere”. She says.

Yvonne’s training is focused on happy and confident puppies through play, mental stimulation, exercise, love, structure, and boundaries.

When not working, you can find Yvonne spending time with friends and family or curling up with a new book on a beach vacation.

Yvonne is the Momma to Henry; the Terrier Mix adopted from Miami-Dade Animal Services, and two DSH cats, Sophie and Sebastian.
