Slobber Stopper Dripless Water Bowls Details
Safety first! Slobber Stopper Dripless Water Bowls are made of industrial-strength materials, including clear food Tritan CoPolyester plastic for both the bowl and lid.
Tritan plastic is free of bisphenol A (BPA) and bisphenol S (BPS). Tritan plastic is also free of estrogenic activity (EA) and androgenic activity (AA). Tritan by Eastman Chemical Company is the cream of the crop when it comes to plastic food safety and durability.
Both Lid and Bowl are 3.8mm thick industrial strength. This crystal transparent see-through material gives the product a high-quality Industrial Strength Feel, and it is stronger than Polycarbonate.
How Does The Slobber Stopper Dripless Water Bowls Work?
Dogs lap or take up the water with their tongues curled backward. As they lap, they move their tongues very quickly to build up momentum. That forces the water into a column and up into their mouths. The bowls are designed to make a pool of water at the base of the lid’s round shape.
The dog rests his muzzle at the top of the ball shape on top of the lid. His tongue laps up the water from the pool at the base of the round shape; as their tongue plunges into the pool of water, the shape of the ball shape forces even more water up the sides of it and into that reverse cupped chamber on the backside of their tongue while they drink.
Benefits Of Using the Slobber Stopper Dripless Water Bowls
For many dogs, water is consumed rapidly, causing a mess around their bowl and could lead to an upset stomach, causing vomiting. The Slobber Stopper essentially slows down a dog’s consumption by ½ of their standard rate. They will continue to consume the same amount of water needed each day but at a safer, slower, and less messy speed. The bowl allows for 85% or more of the water to be consumed by your dog versus other bowls, which end up with 30-50% of the water all over your floor.
Our Thoughts About The Slobber Stopper Dripless Water Bowls
We couldn’t be more pleased with this bowl. Our dogs drank from them immediately (we bought two) and have used them ever since. The shape and size of the bowls are perfect and what’s truly amazing is that they hold a gallon of water each. Considering a dog should drink one ounce of water per pound of body weight a day, that’s one gallon of water for our two pups per day to drink. Imagine the amount of time we’d spend refilling smaller bowls.
We will admit it takes some time and patience to get used to how you fill these bowls. Once you get the swing of it, it takes a few seconds.
Although it’s suggested that these bowls only need cleaning every two days, we find we do it daily. It’s also recommended to hand wash them verse putting them into the dish waster to fear them melting.
What we can say is our messy floors are no longer messy. When our pups are more enthusiastic when drinking, there will be some drips, but nothing like before.
We do recommend if you have larger, taller breeds to purchase the bowl stand to help with your dog’s posture when drinking. We have found our one dog loves to drink standing up, while the other likes to drink lying down and sometimes even uses her bowl as a pillow!
Most importantly is to follow their suggestions for the correct size of bowl you’re your dog. If you need help determining which one is right for you, you can contact Slobber Stopper directly at info@slobberstopper.com.
